Artist and architect Jun Ong has constructed a piercing, four-story light sculpture as the centerpiece of the Urban XChange public art festival in Penang, Malaysia.
Ong built the sculpture, called “The Star,” from steel cables and more than 1,600 feet of LED lights, according to the Creators Project. The artist told the Malay Mail Online that it is his “biggest project so far.”
The light sculpture manifests Urban XChange’s goal to “introduce a concept that public art is not only murals.” Along with “The Star,” the the Urban XChange 2015 program includes other sculptures, installations and “sound happenings,” according the festival’s website.
The project team also created a movie-trailer style video for the sculpture, which I guess is a thing.
