Socrates Sculpture Park Could Become Official Parkland After 30 Years

My colleague at the Astoria Post covered a big change in the works for Socrates Sculpture Park, the free outdoor art space on the Astoria/Long Island City, NYC waterfront.

After 30 years in operation, the City Parks Department is pushing an application to map Socrates as official park space. The goal is to preserve the land as a sculpture park and prevent future development, according to Socrates’ director.
